Abstract

The remarks and insights of researchers German Rey and Rosa Maria Alfaro regarding communication are a valid theoretical basis to interpret a social experience related to the participation and public intervention of feminists and to give visibility to violence against women in Barranquilla, Colombia. The interpretation of this communicative praxis allows us to analyze how communication can strengthen activism, advocacy, and recognition of women rights in a context of ongoing abusement and mistreatment. Social networks and activist groups at the local level demand the enforcement of Law 1257 of 2008, which aim to guarantee a life free of violence.
