Abstract

Sociocultural community development (SCD) in Cuba had an intense development during the last years, its practice spreading in an increasing number of domains. This development in all directions required the implementation of innovative practices, adapted to the new scopes, both from the point of view of methodologies, projects, strategies and processes. Thus, creativity in sociocultural community development developed itsels on the basis of specific tools in the institutional, community, artistic, leisure and cultural circles. These tools allowed the impulse of new points of view and sometimes resulted in unexpected results, demonstrating the fundamental role of social actors. Universities also played an important role in forming specialists and devloping research in SCD witch facilitated the extension of the knowledge.
