Abstract

The objective of this research is to understand how bewitchment in navetane football determines the level of success of players insofar as the performances, the norms and values attributed to it seem to condition the attitudes and conduct of the actors. For this purpose, the study relied mainly on the analysis of speeches made on the basis of semi-directive interviews carried out with the actors of the navetane movement in area five of the municipality of Saint-Louis. It appears that they adopt behaviors and attitudes to bewitchment in line with the social habits they have acquired. These behaviours are strongly internalized in their social representations. Therefore, this internalization of dispositions constitutes a constraint which adjusts, on the one hand, their ways of doing, of being and of feeling in football and determines, on the other hand, the place and importance of bewitchment in navetane football.
