We can wonder about the direction which have the modifications relative to the status of the sociocultural community developers working in leisure activities in the current socioeconomic context. In the world of the sociocultural community development, since the substitution of the contract of the contrat d’engagement éducatif (CEE) to the appendix II to the Collective agreement, we note the will of the federations’ representatives to maintain a distinction between occasionals, named «volunteers», and professionals. This will is nevertheless slowed down in its implementation by national law, and especially European labor law. Which signification can be given to the appeal of federations in favour of volunteer’s status in the collective hosting of minors of an educational character today? The analysis of speeches reveals a normative rhetoric close to that used for the structure of the service civique volontaire (SCV). Both concern young people and we find the same values, the idea of commitment and general interest. In both cases, the voluntary service would join in the course of popular education and of social economy.
