This text approaches in a criticize way the inactivity of the professional sector of social educators and sociocultural community developpers in Spain in front of the recent step back of the public action towards vulnerable social groups. According to the authors, this sector was more worried about the justifiable demand of labor laws than about factors which could have contributed to the disengagement of the Spanish State. Worse, it would have only offered a weak professional answer to the progressive denaturalization of its social function by public administrations, which reduced its autonomy through an excessive institutionalization not based on theoretical postulates, but rather on improvisation without strong coherence. It would ensue from this process that the population identifies from now on the sociocultural community developper either as a project manager or as a bureaucrat.
