Sociocultural community development is alternately presented as a praxis and a vector of social change, even as an activist mold for actors of diverse horizons. Critical thought, in the globalization age, transformation of social structures and rise of cultural tensions over identities, urges practitioners and researchers, both professionals and amateurs, to wonder about their real contributions in the construction of a better world. Having introduced briefly the notions of cultural action and sociocultural community development, this text proposes an inventory of the keysconcepts that characterize any social intervention policy or shape any sociocultural activity, before closing on a synthetic analysis of the functions of this field of research and action susceptible to enrich future visions for society.
