Abstract

Jean-Claude Gillet has written and edited numerous books on professional sociocultural community development. The article first discusses his first three books and takes the «measure» of their bibliographic referencing. Then, his other books on sociocultural community development are commented, illuminating the author’s logic of writing. This presentation makes it possible to verify that the author is quoted by others (authors and professionals), showing the impact of these works. Gillet’s particularity is confirmed, in particular because it took him more than ten years to go from an “undetectable definition” to a formal proposal for a definition of sociocultural community development. He is essential in view of its contributions to the valorization of professional sociocultural community development and its contributions in the creation of an international network that survives him.
