The members of the Amazigh communities (kabyle) of Algeria live according to a social order inherited from the centuries, framed by moral and religious values as well as customs and traditions. However, this social order is beginning to be shaken by the advent of information and communication technologies (ICT) and cultural globalization. Thus, they acquired new lifestyles and new socio-cultural behaviors that broke with those of their ancestors. In addition, some traditional forms of communication no longer exist, weakening established modes of transmission. Among the positive findings that emerge from our survey, however, are the importance of ICTs in supporting the Amazigh language in general, and the Kabyle dialect in particular, and their role in promoting Amazigh culture and identity, as well as, more broadly, in the promotion of freedom of opinion and expression.
