The figure of the sociocultural community development’s professionals that Jean-Claude Gillet trained at the IUT Bordeaux Montaigne and in institutions where he taught is the one, hybrid, of the practitioner-researcher. It is also what I allow myself in this text to attribute to him, since he did not conceive research as separate from practice, not only of the researcher but of the practitioner, and so he did not conceive professional practice free from reflexivity and conceptual resources of research. We can recognize in its commitments and its work on professional sociocultural community development the involvement of the researcher at the heart of the research process, but also the involvement of the practitioner at the heart of a praxeological approach in sociocultural community development and formation of groups, whose objective is to unfold the meaning of the action, sociocultural community development being defined by him as a praxis and the group being the place of a common praxis. His strategic intelligence of social situations and his activism characterize his posture and his conception of a sociocultural community developer actor in fights and bearer of utopias.
